The idea of Spirit Animal Allies, or Totems as they are frequently called, has been around about as long as Human beings have been aware of the need to connect with the world of spirit, and the Earth itslef. While commonly associated with Native and Central American Shaminic practices, references to spirit animals also appear in ancient Celtic and Pre-Christian European beliefs as well.

Whether anscestral, or unique to the individual, it is believed that every person has at least one Animal Ally, sometimes as a representation of the self, and others as a teacher.

In this two hour workshop, you'll learn what an animal ally is, ways to disover and work with yours, and experience a drumming journey into the spirit world designed to help you connect with the curious creatures from the other side.

Chanting mantras properly can help to stimulate the body chemically, and may even help with a number of things physically as well as mentally. By helping to relax the body and reduce stress, chanting mantras calm the nervous system and, in turn, reduce stress-related illness.

Mantras can be one word or several. They are sometimes specific to the person, perhaps with special meaning only to you. They can be useful for just about anything: protection, health, money, success, or happiness.

Creating Magickal Sprinkling Powders with Darla
Sunday March 11th 1-3pm. Cost is $15, and includes supplies. Pre-registration required.
The use of sprinkling and blowing powders -- usually called sachet (pronounced "sashay") powders -- has been a part of hoodoo practice for a very long time. It is likely that the use of such powders combines African and European magical traditions. Powders may be dusted onto your altar to enhance your magical workings, sprinkled onto ritual objects to strengthen the connection to your magical intent, or blown into the air to spread their magical influence through a room or place. You may add a protection powder to the casting of the circle, or sprinkle it around the home.

The History of Saint Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day started in the time of the Roman Empire. In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honour Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia. The lives of young boys and girls were strictly separate. However, one of the customs of the young people was name drawing. On the eve of the festival of Lupercalia the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Each young man would draw a girl's name from the jar and would then be partners for the duration of the festival with the girl whom he chose. Sometimes the pairing of the children lasted an entire year, and often, they would fall in love and would later marry.

The pastors of the early Christian Church in Rome endeavoured to do away with the pagan element in these feasts by substituting the names of saints for those of maidens. And as the Lupercalia began about the middle of February, the pastors appear to have chosen Saint Valentine's Day for the celebration of this new feaSt. So it seems that the custom of young men choosing maidens for valentines, or saints as patrons for the coming year, arose in this way.

Manifesting Love in Your Life;
Finding the love of your life can be a daunting challenge these days, without having a little help! Try incorporating the following tips and techniques to help you to manifest the love of your life in no time!
Get Love: When you love yourself unconditionally, you create and draw loving energy toward yourself. You are whole, complete and in love with yourself, therefore, fully present when interacting with others.
Get Real: It's time to throw Barbie and Ken in the trash and GET REAL! When you are describing your ideal mate, let things that are not very important go! Be open to dating outside your race too. The most important thing is; how does the other person make you feel?
Get Clear: Once you have developed a healthy, loving relationship with yourself, the next step is to get clear about the type of person you would like to draw into your life. A great exercise on getting clear starts with listing all of the qualities you would like to experience in your ideal partner. Write everything that comes to mind, such as integrity, honesty, good sense of humor, active, healthy, intelligent, great chemistry, wants kids, financially stable, loves to travel, etc. Once you have your list, circle the items that are must haves. Consider the rest preferences. Now get your creative juices flowing and write a story describing your ideal day with your ideal mate. Make it multi-sensory and live it up! Use present tense, as if he/she is already in your life. Make sure to include how your partner will make you feel and what kind of interactions and energy you will experience together. Go through a whole day and you will not only be manifesting your ideal mate, you will be creating your ideal life!
Get Grateful: Now let's energize your story with the emotions of gratitude! Read your story out loud and imagine he/she is ALREADY in your life and FEEL joy and gratitude for the beautiful life you have created together! Now, really expand those feelings and let your heart fill with love. After doing this, let it go and whenever you think about it, imagine the wonderful life you have together and know that it's done. Feel grateful every time you think about it. Any feelings of doubt or skepticism will slow down the process or even prevent it, so be confident and know it's done.
Get Busy: The final step in manifesting your mate is to TAKE ACTION! So what you have to do is take action–with faith that it's going to come true. The best way to take action is to put yourself in situations where you can meet other eligible singles. Join activity groups, take classes and do the things you enjoy. Be open to meeting/dating a variety of people looks-wise; remember, chemistry is a funny thing! Use your intuition to let Divine Energy guide you toward whom you should contact, be pro-active and initiate contact! Trust that the Divine love you feel for yourself will be reciprocated by the right person. Just relax, be yourself, have fun and enjoy the process.
